Are you up for a quiet little ice age? Then pack your bags, based on recent observations, in our near future, we might have one.
It seems like our Sun is about to become quiet. Not forever though, just for a while its activity will be lower.
A little explanation:
To most of us sun is a constant source of light that brightens our days. Unbeknown to us, it is a very active star. Under the quietness there are violent bursts of energy called solar flares, and more amazingly there are gigantic releases of material to solar winds, called coronal mass ejections. This mass is estimated to be 10,000,000,000,000 kg.
Sun’s activity could be measured in cycles. These cycles are 11 year long and it is related to sunspots.Recently scientists have observed that these sunspots will be getting almost to zero by next cycle.
Regardless, of the specific scientific evidence for Sun getting quieter, if it happens we will probably forget about global warming in some parts of the world. In fact, this had happened before in 1600 when in some parts of Europe different canals got frozen. Hopefully, it will just impact the canals, and not our bodies.
